  1. create section for the unit for a semester - title is "Unit-name S2 2008"
    • this part of muso doesn't add the semester and year so have to put it in manually

  1. So for semester 2 2008 start date 7th july, end date 23 jan 09
For ease of cut and paste that's 7/07/2008 23/01/2009
  1. Add the main lecturer responsible (primary lecturer) as "lecturer" and "designer"

MUSO Blackboard

Section creation [a teaching unit for a semester] in a course should include doing the following:

Within blackboard from my.monash.edu

  1. Create course matching unit and/or variants
  2. create section for the unit for a semester
  3. If prior unit section exists, copy content over. * if not, then make sure you create it with the engineering faculty template as you can't apply a template after the event!!!!!!!!!!!
  4. the dates are the visibility ones - so you need to know the end date of deferred exams.
And this seems to be hidden quite well but I found it at ask.monash "What are the key teaching dates and official holiday periods for the University?" https://monash.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/monash.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=425&p_sid=nh7QVy6j&p_accessibility=0&p_redirect=1&p_pv=&p_cv=&p_prods=&p_cats=&p_sp=cF9zZWFyY2hfdGV4dD0mcF9zZWFyY2hfdHlwZT1hbnN3ZXJzLnNlYXJjaF9mbmwmcF9zb3J0X2J5PQ**&p_topview=1

Use blackboard manager now!

  1. use blackboard manager and link the units from callista
  2. add the student cohorts for the semester 2 2008 from ALL locations

Or as put by the training mob:

1. Please consult with Ranjith - Faculty Adminstrator to confirm any faculty alterations to University policies and procedures.
2. Enssure you are familiar with the education policies and procedures, copyright and IT acceptable use policy as found on the MUSO landing page of the portal
3.There is a naming convention that must be followed - check with Ranjith
4. Headers and Footers must comply with MAPA branding requirements - check with Ranjith
5. All students studying in a unit (or its aliases) in the same teaching period should be enrolled into the same section regardless of mode or location as per University policy (see Ranjith for any authorised exceptions)
6. the default role for an academic should be Lecturer and Designer, regardless of location
7. only tutors should be enrolled as Tutors
8. section visibility dates should be set to cover the entire teaching period and preferrably up to the end of deferred exams (see Ranjith)
9. the Access Dates should be left as default and a list of sections created should be sent to ITS (see Ranjith) to enable the students to be uploaded from Callista as smoothly as possible
