Altium Designer Licenses

> I notice the Winter09 Altium license specifically states at boot time that it is to be ;"used by students for non-commercial purposes".
> How does this affect staff using this license?

Just as a reminder: - Most software we buy has very specific license conditions - that you must comply with.

In general the uni is required to have a full retail/commercial license of software used for anything that creates income (as opposed to a grant for research) for the department, which makes using advanced/expensive software difficult if you see a commercial outcome likely.

ITS has pages describing software conditions of the major common packages at http://www.its.monash.edu.au/staff/software/catalogue/index.html

In the case of Altium Designer software, we have 70 student license leases and one (maintained) full commercial license.

That covers us for teaching, research and the odd grant or contract that falls outside of the 'non-commercial purposes' provisions. [The 08 version had same usage conditions buried in the end user license agreement]
