--+ 4 Terabyte Tape Robot - Qualstar and Veritas BackupExec software

For dept. backup we use a 4 terabyte 80 tape AIT2 robot. BackupExec software does well most of the time, but the interaction with unix and macosx boxes is bad.

If a unix or mac box backup exec remote agent tries to backup any of the following:

Start of Epoch date (ie: 1/1/1970 on unix - in particular mammoth.ctie)
Special file devices (eg: /proc /dev and their files - as created by rsync full backup of a box)
strange non-ascii characters in file names [like some old mac folder symbols]

Then the remote agent will hang and eventually the backup exec remote agent service ON the backup SERVER dies - causing all backups to fail in that particular job.
