The Filer application (which is what the Network button is) is showing a variety of different sorts of services: Apple File Servers (afp://ecses) via appletalk [ethertalk or maybe appletalk/IP] windows servers = SAMBA servers (smb://ecses/admin for example) and it can also connect to NFS servers (nfs://matlab.csse.monash.edu.au/matlab )

You can type in services on the connect to line using the format above.

Have you enabled appletalk in your network system preferences? for your laptop.

Folder ECSE with alias ECSES is windows/samba networking - it has seen the announcements from the windows server that say the samba shares exist. I would guess that it will try and list all of the samba shares if you click on the ECSES alias, BUT it might try to first authenticate you using your macosx username - do you use same username/password for your mac boxes as ecses? ideally you should.

Ideally you use samba (connect to server using smb://ecses/mucbe etc) to connect to the win2k servers - the appletalk side of win2k is a bit flaky (have exceeded the number of files the service can officially cope with on the server).
