Debian/GNU Linux intallation

There is no known free software driver for it, but Epson provides printer drivers for GNU/Linux.

Install Debian CUPS packages.
Download the driver from http://www.avasys.jp/english/linux_e/dl_laser.html
Choose the "Source File" in CUPS section
Folow the INSTALL file (./configure --prefix=/usr/local/; make; make install)
Restart CUPSYS
Choose EPSON AL-C1100 in Cupsys (NOT Action Laser 1100!)
That's all, enjoy the amazing quality even on normal 80g paper!

Note that this is a binary driver, there are no sources in the .tgz. I'm also unsure of the licence, as you will find both GPL and Epson Kowa Public Licence files in the tarball. I think that the non-free Kowa licence applies.

The above is untried and I don't know if it applies to Fedora linux. Having said that, we have taken PPD files from macosx to linux quite successfully in the past so I would expect the above to work for fedora cups as well.
