Organization of the SVN repository

The box ecsesvn.eng.monash.edu.au hosts subversion repositories.
Currently we have subversion 1.32 installed
You currently need to use http (or https) to access a repository. eg: http://ecsesvn.eng.monash.edu.au/dantest/ where dantest is a test repo for dan.
We are creating separate repositories for each user/project to simplify administration.

Getting a repository created

You need to provide - in email to Vanessa Luu, or Daniel Grimm:

Repository Name (needs to be unique - perhaps something like dgthesis or facematch)
list of people who need access to that repository, and more importantly their authcate username [as we use LDAP authcate name/password for access]. Please include your thesis supervisor's name.

It is possible for us to set up a local password file if there are non-monash people needing access to a repository, but that is not our preferred system at present. By preference we are not mixing local password file and authcate access restrictions.
We can also add extra authcate users at a later date (eg: if you want your supervisor to have access directly to your codebase) but it requires [simple, quick] manual updating.

Time needed for creating the repository

Paul Jenkins has created a simple web page for repository creation, but at present there is some manual intervention required on the box after creating the repository. Once we have time to access that page, the repository is available for use in about 5 minutes.

CTIE CVS repository

CTIE has a host called mammoth that uses CVS repositories, but due to the extra ease of access via http, the plan is to slowly change over to subversion on ecsesvn. CVS on Mammoth is still usable and available.
