Daniel Grimm has been looking at video delivery over IP networks for more years than he cares to admit. In the current world economy, telecommunications companies are looking at ways to increase profits by holding onto customers. Triple Play is seen as the way to go. This is achieved by using 'television' delivery over IP, technically it tends to be RTP over UDP over IP [which could be IPv6], with the video encoded using an 'open' standard codec. Come to this talk for a rough state of play and a glimpse into some of the research areas that are still wide open.
