As part of its ATcrc commitment,
the CTIE team has been heavily involved with standardization activities
within the Internet Engineering Task Force
(IETF). The IETF is the principle body for development of Internet
Standards, and is currently working toward the standardization and
adoption of the Next Generation Mobile Internet Protocols (Mobile IPv6).
Our team has been contributing to standards forums, and
developing new potential standard technology. This has tangible outputs
in the form of 'Internet Drafts'. These are documents that are used as
input to the standardization process. Internet Drafts involving CTIE
staff are listed below.
As part of the standardization process, our team has
made four (invited) presentations at IETF meetings, and chaired one BoF
(Birds of Feather Session). Out of this work, the Detecting Network Attachment
IETF working group was formed which will cover work undertaken by CTIE
staff, with a CTIE member as chair.

The current major area of research in IPv6 is simulation of networks
Simulations of IPv6, and variations on Mobile IPv6, wireless and ad-hoc/mesh networks as well as large networks in general. A lot of these networks need high performance computing or simulation on large clusters and CTIE has a suitable development environment as well as access to major compute clusters.
